About the Role

Join our Rockhampton team in a hands-on leadership role that supports both animals and the Inspectorate team. You’ll coordinate the Foster and Offsite Adoption Programs, manage daily care for animals at our holding facility, and provide vital administrative support to the Inspectorate team, and even assist in wildlife rescues alongside our Rescue tea,. This is a diverse and rewarding role that combines animal husbandry, behaviour support, community engagement, and logistics—all with the goal of achieving the best outcomes for animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily health checks, enrichment activities, and animal husbandry at the Rockhampton facility.
  • Coordinate and implement behaviour assessments and enrichment programs.
  • Safely transport animals to vet appointments and ensure stress-free handling environments.
  • Support Inspectors in the field and coordinate transfers to other RSPCA sites.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in our animal care systems.
  • Provide guidance and animal support for Op Shop staff when required.
  • Maintain local inventory and ensure accurate data entry for Inspectorate evidence and records.
  • Support adoption and intake paperwork processes.
  • Liaise with vets, councils, and other animal-related partners.
  • Participate in staff rostering and training.
  • Act as the primary contact for foster carers and offsite adoption centres, ensuring positive and informed relationships.
  • Administer preventative treatments such as vaccinations.
  • Support community programs such as Pets in Crisis and partner rescue networks.
  • Represent RSPCA at events and contribute to education, adoption, and awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments across the organisation to support animal welfare programs.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated animal handling skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and time management skills.
  • An open QLD driver’s licence.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle animals (minimum 10kg).
  • A genuine interest in the mission and values of the RSPCA.
